What is the future of Dynamics GP, and what are my options? GP Support by Version
Rumors around Microsoft Dynamics GP’s end-of-life have incited fear in businesses around the world. The unfortunate fact is that most of the available information is either incorrect, incomplete, or hard to understand. The
truth is, Dynamics GP is not going away anytime soon! So, we are reaching out to all S2 clients not on the current version (18.6) to provide accurate information about the state of Dynamics GP and to help successfully
guide your business to the right solution. In this series we will review the following:
- GP Support by Version
- Server Considerations
- GP Licensing
- Barriers to Upgrading
Microsoft’s Modern Lifecycle Policy offers support and servicing, bug fixes, and latest tax updates. Under this policy, Dynamics GP customers stay current by taking at least one of the three all-inclusive updates released annually, typically in June, October, and December. The updates consist of hotfixes, tax table changes, and any relevant regulatory updates. The updates can also include changes in usability or reliability to address top customer issues, and other areas that are critical in making sure that businesses run successfully on Dynamics GP.
What this means…customers can update their Dynamics GP platform to be under the Modern Lifecycle Policy without having to abandon their system altogether and there is no specified end date! However, older versions of Dynamics GP have seen and will continue to see the end of mainstream and extended support because they are under the Fixed Lifecycle Policy, and therefore have set end dates for support. Support ending dates by version
