Product News August 2023
Often when a company is planning a Dynamics GP upgrade, attention turns to the age and reliability of the old server. This can be an ideal time to migrate to a new server.
In addition, it’s imperative to be mindful of Microsoft support expiration dates that could impact your GP installation and put your data at risk.
Windows Server 2012
Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 will end on October 10, 2023. After this date, these products will no longer receive security updates, non-security updates, bug fixes, technical support, or online technical content updates.
If you cannot upgrade to the next version, you will need to use Extended Security Updates (ESUs) for up to three years. ESUs are available for free in Azure or need to be purchased for on-premises deployments. Microsoft has guidance for both cloud and on-premises solutions – click here to learn more.
SQL Server 2014
Extended support for SQL Server 2014 will end on July 9, 2024. After this date, this product will no longer receive security updates. SQL Server follows Microsoft’s Fixed Lifecycle Policy; for more information, click here.
